The De Biarritz Yearbook 2016

A year after our interview, Thomas Busuttil publishes under his now named DPY editions, the book De Biarritz Yearbook 2016 (yes yes like that documents the year 2016, the book comes out in 2017, it finally makes sense). The idea is still simple and effective: create a 216 page almanac on the surf culture of Biarritz and its surroundings.

They are 18 photographers (Eric Chauché, César Ancelle Hansen, Kevin Metallier, Bastien Bonnarme, Damien Poullenot, Laurent Pujol, Julien Binet, Antoine Justes, Mathieu Hemon, Gregory Rabejac, Guillaume Arrieta, Laurent Masurel, Cecilia Thibier, Sylvain Cazenave, Claudia Lederer, Guillaume Fauveau, Wouter Struyf, Felix Schaper and Olivier Dézèque to name them all) who have had the difficult task of doing what they prefer to do: photograph what happens before a surfing session, after and of course while.

“Ah … We do not know if we can add a city right away, we’re changing the main lines of the project, we want to exploit other categories, not just skateboarding.” Thomas Busuttil told us during the interview that we made in November 2016.

It is with a provocative, hyper-delicious cover and wonderfully magnified by the work of the Malinoswky Workshop (which deals with the artistic direction of all the books of DPY editions) that the book is presented.

The selection among the 3,800 proposed snapshots is made by Kévin Métallier and Olivier Dezèque, local and surfer inveterate.
