Portuguese artist Ema Gaspar has just created a series of three boards for April Skateboards. Each board is a self-contained narrative space, populated by organic shapes, hybrid figures, and spiral patterns, drawn in colored pencils and graphite.
Ema Gaspar’s work is characterized by the superimposition of visual “action shots”: deliberately disconnected elements coexist and interact, creating scenes that are both playful and slightly unsettling. Floral characters, stylized faces, and sinuous lines compose an intense visual vocabulary, where the softness of the colors contrasts with an underlying tension.
The handmade aspect of these graphics adds a really interesting touch to this series, which you can find on the April Skateboards website.
