Artist Inga Guzyte continues to push her art of creating artwork from broken skateboards and is currently exhibiting at the Museum of Art & History in Lancaster, CA, her solo exhibition “Kindred Spirits”. Her series of artworks draws on her own experiences as a woman in male dominated fields such as skateboarding, woodworking and sculpture as well as the traumatic experience of being abandoned by her fatherin her formative years. Carefully choosing her skate pieces, she sculpts colorful portraits of other female artists belonging to minorities such as Alison Saar, Patssi Valdez, Shirin Neshat and Patrisse Cullors.
Due to the current period, the museum is closed to the public but check out the MoAH virtual tour.
