The last artwork of Rom av.JC entitled Vinum messis plays with ancient imagery while using a decidedly contemporary material: broken skateboard decks. Inspired by the technique and aesthetics of Attic Greek black-figure kylixes, it depicts a Roman grape harvest scene.
The scene depicts men treading grapes, as in Greek vases dedicated to the grape harvest. This large vase, measuring 110cm x 110cm, is made from 10 broken skateboard decks. The work is further distinguished by the addition of cotton or wool threads as decoration.
It is currently on sale on the artist’s website romavjc.com or on The Daily Board’s Artsper store.
