A look back at the opening of Spraying Board CSE Michelin

There’s still just over a month to discover the fascinating Spraying Board exhibition, currently on show at the CSE Michelin, 8 Rue Jacques Magnier, Clermont-Ferrand. This unique exhibition is the fruit of an innovative artistic collaboration that blends urban art with skateboard culture.

Spraying Board, a concept born of a passion for street art and skateboarding, transforms skateboards into veritable works of art. The idea is simple, but original: to give a second life to used skateboards or skateboards with deformities that prevent them from being used properly, using them as canvases for talented artists. Not only does this project create art, it also promotes recycling and sustainability in the world of skateboarding.

To whet your appetite, here are a few shots of the boards on display. Each board tells a unique story, reflecting the style and vision of the artist who created it. The vivid colors, bold patterns and varied techniques used on these atypical media are sure to impress.

The line-up

This year’s exhibition features a selection of exceptional artists who have lent themselves to the game of board customization. Among them, you’ll discover the works of Quentin Caillat, known for his striking graphic designs, Floé, whose poetic creations enchant the eye, and Fabrica Minervae, who turns skateboards into carpets. Yandy Graffer brings his colorful, energetic style to the table, while Rom av.JC tries to make us believe he’s found the first skateboards from Roman times. Last but not least, Maxime Hurdequint completes this impressive line-up with creations that pay homage to the very first sports in our history.

The exhibition features a total of 24 main boards, each a unique piece that captures the essence of the artist who created it. In addition to these central works, 8 bonus boards are scattered throughout the exhibition, offering visitors surprising discoveries at every corner. These additional pieces add a playful dimension to the experience, inviting the public to carefully explore every nook and cranny of the exhibition space.

Commitment & thanks

More than just an exhibition, Spraying Board is actively involved in public engagement. Painting workshops on recycled skateboards were organized, allowing children to take part in this artistic adventure. These sessions not only raised awareness of the importance of recycling, but also provided a platform for youngsters to express their creativity in a unique medium.

We would like to express our deep gratitude to the artists for their exceptional work, which pushes back the boundaries of contemporary art. Our thanks also go to the entire CSE Michelin team, whose support and enthusiasm were essential to the success of this event. Finally, we’d like to salute all the children who took part in our workshops, bringing their personal touch to this collective and inspiring project.

Don’t miss this unique opportunity to discover how art can transform everyday objects into unique collector’s items. The Spraying Board exhibition awaits you on an artistic journey where street culture meets innovation and sustainability.
